LAPP now gives even more young people a professional future perspective. Despite economically challenging times, the world market leader for integrated solutions in cable and connection technology has significantly increased the number of apprenticeships starting this year. At the beginning of September, 27 young men and women started their careers, six more than the year before.

"Right now, we have to look ahead and assume social responsibility towards the younger generation. We must do everything we can to ensure that the young people do not become the losing generation now. In addition, for us as a medium-sized family business, training is an important instrument  for ensuring the next generation of employees," emphasizes Matthias Lapp, CEO of U.I. Lapp GmbH.

At the Stuttgart site, eleven training courses will be offered at the start of 9/2020: The dual training program for IT Specialist (m/f/g) for Application Development, Specialist (m/f) for Warehouse Logistics, Industrial Clerk (m/f/g), Management Assistant (m/f/g) for Wholesale and Foreign Trade Management, with a focus on Wholesale, Machine and Plant Operator (m/f/g) with a focus on Metal and Plastics Technology and Mechatronics Technician (m/f/). In addition, LAPP enables dual courses of study, such as Business Administration Service Management with a focus on Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Business Administration Industry, Industrial Engineering with a major in Electrical Engineering and Business Information Technology with a major in Application Management. Among the 27 new trainees are also three fugitives who are learning the profession of machine and plant operator (m/f/g) and specialist (m/f/g) for warehouse logistics at LAPP.

The Training at Lapp starts with an introductory training week."Due to Corona, however, we do not yet know whether we will be able to offer the same diversity in this training year as in previous years. But we will do everything we can to ensure that the quality of training does not suffer even in difficult times. After all, we want to get young people excited about their future careers," says Anne Voigt, Head of Training at LAPP.

This is why LAPP is focusing increasingly on digital and mobile working. Coupled with the concept of blended learning - which, due to the current situation, is increasingly being used at vocational schools and universities - the transfer and acquisition of knowledge can be made more flexible for trainees.

The commitment of the trainees is not only evident in the content relevant to their training or studies, but also in their active participation in internal and cross-departmental projects, in LAPP events and trade fairs - such as the education fairs HORIZON, TRAUMBERUF IT & TECHNIK, vocatium or the DHBW-Information for Students, in events such as the annual LAPP anniversary celebration or the Tüftler- und Forscherinnentag Baden-Württemberg as well as in the project 'Social weeks - Open up! for trainees' in cooperation with the agency Mehrwert. Anne Voigt: "We hope that we will be able to offer a wide range of courses here in the new training year 2020/21 - taking into account the ongoing COVID-19 situation and compliance with the associated restrictions and rules".

LAPP had received 1,100 applications for the 9/2020 training start. LAPP is currently training a total of 70 young people. In recent years, over 90 percent of the trainees have been taken on.
